Violet light rises from a meditator's third eye, beneath the moon and the sun

Guided third eye meditation

5 sessions22 to 26 minadvanced

Third Eye focuses on the point between the brows. You start by feeling both physical eyes, then learn to shift from looking outward to looking inward. Other sessions let an image be born at the centre of the forehead and fade away, invite you to wait before the dark space until an image appears on its own, take you through the door of Ajna, or let a mandala keep building itself once you let go of control.

Sessions last 22 to 26 minutes and are marked as advanced. They are best approached after some practice with relaxation and visualization. Start with The Third Eye and the Two Physical Eyes, which teaches the shift of attention that the other sessions build on, and take your time with each one.

The sessions

  1. The Third Eye and the Two Physical Eyes

    26 min · advanced

Feel both eyes, then the point between the brows, and learn to move from looking outward to looking inward.

  2. The Inner Eye Awakens

    22 min · advanced

Let an image be born at the centre of the forehead, hold it, transform it, then let it vanish as cleanly as it came.

  3. The Image that Appears on its Own

    23 min · advanced

Build nothing: wait before the dark space, and watch the image that eventually appears on its own.

  4. The Door of Ajna

    23 min · advanced

Pass through the door of Ajna and explore, step by step, the place beyond it — ground, light, imagined sounds.

  5. The Mandala that Builds Itself

    26 min · advanced

Lay down the first shapes of a mandala, then let go of all control and watch what keeps building itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is the third eye?

In several traditions, the third eye, or Ajna, refers to the point between the eyebrows, associated with inner perception. In these sessions, it serves as a focus point for attention and imagination.

Are these sessions for beginners?

They are marked as advanced. If you are new to meditation, try the Learning Basics and Visualization categories first, then come back here once you are used to holding your attention for twenty minutes or more.

Where should I start?

The Third Eye and the Two Physical Eyes is the natural first step. It teaches the shift from looking outward to looking inward that the other sessions build on, so it is worth repeating it a few times before moving on.
